Race hots up for RERA Chairman as Veenu Gupta-PK Goyal gain ‘lead’ with Veenu in a ‘comfortable spot’!

Jaipur: The process for appointment of the new Chairman of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has been initiated. Since several weeks had passed to the last date of inviting applications, July 5, it was being speculated whether the appointment of new Chairman would be done prior to the election ‘Code of Conduct’ coming into force.

However, according to knowledgeable sources, the appointment would be done in the first week of September. The preliminary meeting of the three member committee under the chairmanship of Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava of Rajasthan High Court was held on August 18, wherein Principal Secretary UDH, T. Ravikanth, and Secretary Law, Gyan Prakash Gupta also participated. During the meeting, which occurred in the chamber of Justice Shrivastava in the High Court, the ACR, service history and other relevant information about the four applicants was examined.

It has come to light that the second meeting of the committee will be held today, wherein, the final panel of the candidates could be formed after which the panel would be sent to CM and he would put the final stamp on one name. Notably, for the post of RERA Chairman, four candidates had applied- Ravishankar Srivastava, Pawan Kumar Goyal, Veenu Gupta and a retired Chief Engineer from Housing Board. Among the contenders, Veenu Gupta surprised the entire bureaucracy by applying at the last moment on the last day of submitting application. The manner she suddenly joined the race, after not being appointed as the next CS of the State, it is largely believed that finally it will be Veenu Gupta who will be appointed to this chair.

In fact, bureaucratic sources reveal, that the main competition in the race is between Veenu Gupta and Pawan Kumar Goyal, with Veenu Gupta’s chances being on the ‘brighter side’. Furthermore, word is that the remaining two contestants, Ravishankar Srivastava and the retired Chief Engineer from Housing Board, are not in the contest.

An ACS rank officer of the 1987 IAS batch, Veenu Gupta would retire in December and as Chairman RERA, she would continue in the government establishment for five years.
