‘Quick decisions help accomplish projects before time’

Jaipur: A big project like Chambal River Front in Kota, that could take 5 to 8 years to complete, has been completed in less than 3 years. There have been many ups and downs and challenges but the project will be inaugurated on September 12 by CM Ashok Gehlot. Project Architect Anoop Bartaria shares experiences of working on the project with First India:

  • Where did the idea of Chambal River Front Project come from?
    Anoop Bartaria:
I had earlier designed the Seven Wonders project in Kota. I discussed with UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal that we should do something that will change the entire city as a ‘world class’ city. I believe that no city should be developed 360 degrees unless it is developed completely. Every little thing is executed beautifully in European nations. But in our country, instead of entire nation, one or two projects are thought of.
  • A big project like Chambal River Front could take 5 to 8 years. How did you accomplish it in less than 3 years?
Any project is possible before time only when quick decisions are taken. I used to visit the site regularly & take quick decisions to resolve problems. Minister Shanti Dhariwal used to regularly monitor the project. If there is a right combination of financial capability, political and architectural vision, the projects can be completed before time. CM Gehlot supported in this side.
  • What arrangements have been made for the security of this project?
An American firm is looking after the project’s operation & maintenance. There are three gates for entry. No one can enter without security check.
  • What safety measures have been taken in this project if floods like 2019 occur again?
All major construction of the project has been done above the level of 250 meters. Only stairs & ramps are built below.
  • What are your future plans after this project?
I believe that other cities of the country will also follow Kota’s ‘urban transformation’ model. The work of beautification of Govind Devji temple of Jaipur will be started. The second phase of the Chambal River Front Project will also start. This will be a completely green field project. This project will be 12 kilometres long.
