‘Public servants important for democracy’
Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Thursday that civil servants have an important role for a strong democracy in the country. “Sensitive, transparent and accountable good governance is possible only with the participation of civil servants. The contribution of public servants is important in realizing the vision of the state government to make Rajasthan the first state of the country by 2030,” the CM said while addressing a function organized on the theme of ‘Committed Administration, Good Governance in the State’ on the occasion of Civil Services Day-2023 at RIC on Thursday. On this occasion, he congratulated all the civil servants on Civil Services Day.
Gehlot said that the thinking of great men like Pt Nehru and Sardar Patel laid the foundation of an excellent civil service in the country, whose respect has increased progressively. “Former PM Late. Rajiv Gandhi had dreamed of connecting the country to the 21st century through information technology. As a result of this, the country is achieving new dimensions in the field of IT today,” he said.
Addressing the officers, CS Usha Sharma said that public servants play their role in building the state and the nation by contributing in the implementation of the policies and schemes of the state government. “Under the leadership of CM Ashok Gehlot, all the public servants of the state have made significant contribution in the socio-economic development of the state,” she said. The chief speaker of the program, former Chief Secretary of Tripura - M. Damodaran - said that all officers should work with full dedication, keeping loyalty and honesty towards their work. He said that public servants are the center of public’s expectations and their responsibilities are also huge. During this, he shared his administrative experiences with the officers and explained to them about leadership, decision making, good governance through various examples.
