Public-driven innovations gain nat’l recognition

Jaipur: Several innovations involving public participation have been implemented in Rajasthan, with key advancements highlighted on the central government’s main portal.

These innovations have significantly impacted both urban and rural life, and they have also acknowledged the efforts of local groups.

The Chief Secretary has repeatedly emphasized the importance of improving daily life through better services, suggesting collectors to introduce their own innovations at the local level. In response to these directives, several successful innovations have emerged and gained popularity throughout the state.

Rajasthani footwear- Mojri

Clusters of rural artisans making the traditional footwear Mojri of Rajasthan were initially selected for the pilot project. The Mojri makers from Nagaur district achieved remarkable success, which led to the expansion of the initiative. Building on this success, a new project was launched to create a Mojri cluster involving 2,700 artisans across the districts of Jodhpur, Jalore, Jaipur, and Pali.

Fodder Beet

The Central Arid Zone Research Institute (in Jodhpur introduced fodder beet (Beta vulgaris) to tackle the challenge of limited green fodder in arid regions. This type of beetroot, suitable for fodder, thrives even in poor soil and with minimal water. This crop addresses the fodder shortage from January to April when supply is typically low, and it costs less than 50 paise per kg to produce. Both farmers and the agriculture department in agro-climatic regions have successfully adopted this fodder.

Child Care Institutions of Bhilwara

In Bhilwara, government children’s homes were established in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act to offer residential facilities for children. These institutions focus on maintaining high standards of physical infrastructure. They feature separate facilities for boys and girls, ensuring a child-friendly environment with emphasis on safety and accessibility.
