Protest over dalit’s gang rape, murder; BJP fumes

Bikaner/Jaipur: A 20-year old dalit girl was allegedly gangraped and murdered, leading to the suspension of two policemen for their suspected role in the incident in Bikaner district, officials said on Wednesday. The body of girl was found in a house on Tuesday.

The family members and relatives of the victim did not allow postmortem and held a dharna outside the police station with their demands including the arrest of the accused, compensation and government job to one family member.

However, after rounds of talks with the senior police and district administration officials and assurance on their demands, the family members of the victim got ready to accept the body after postmortem. BJP district president Jalam Singh Bhati and former parliamentary secy Dr V Meghwal were also present.

BJP State president CP Joshi said there should be a full-time Home Minister in state who can take responsibility for any incident. Former CM Raje targeted the Gehlot govt and said that the rape and murder of a dalit woman was a shameful incident. “The Cong govt is only misleading public with its baseless claims, crimes against women have increased,” she said.
