Protest at RU: Police resorts to lathi-charge

Jaipur: Student leaders of Rajasthan University (RU) on Friday created a ruckus in the varsity and demanded the holding of student union elections in the state. The protestors raised slogans against the state government and locked the gates of the VC secretariat.

Later, they also blocked the JLN Marg, following which, the police restored to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. “More than six students were injured while five were taken into police custody for disrupting the peace. The students also performed a yagya at the entrance gate of RU at 11 am on Friday. However, when the students went out of control, the police resorted to lathicharge & dispersed the crowd,” police said.
