Prosecution sanction against JMCH Mayor Munesh Gurjar
Jaipur: The State govt has finally issued prosecution sanction against Jaipur Municipal Corporation Heritage Mayor Munesh Gurjar in a case of bribery, the govt informed the High Court on Monday. DLB Director appeared in case through video conferencing before Single Bench of Justice Narendra Singh Dhaddha. Now case will be heard after two weeks.
Following the approval from UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra, the sanction order has been issued. The ACB will now present the chargesheet against her.
Once ACB submits challan and department is informed, Mayor Gurjar will be suspended and removed from her position. Since the post is reserved for an OBC woman, the govt will temporarily assign the role to a councilor from this category for up to 60 days. Bypolls may be held after this period, or term could be extended.
On August 4, 2023, the ACB raided Gurjar’s residence, where her husband Sushil Gurjar and two brokers, Narayan Singh and Anil Dubey, were arrested with a bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh. The raid also uncovered lease-related files, Rs 41 lakh at Sushil Gurjar’s house and Rs 8.95 lakh at broker Narayan Singh’s residence. The investigation confirmed the corruption allegations against Mayor Gurjar.
ACB may call JMCH Mayor Munesh Gurjar for questioning and even arrest her before filing the challan, said sources.
