Promises unkept: Delhi-Mumbai Expressway safety in jeopardy
Jaipur/Dausa: The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has become accident-prone with safety walls missing at many places from Sohna to Sawai Madhopur. Besides, many illegal dhabas have mushroomed in connivance with NHAI and free movement of cattle have made the expressway dangerous.
The 373-km eightlane Delhi-Mumbai Access Control Greenfield Expressway passes through Rajasthan. The project was to be completed in January 2023 but it has not been completed yet but was thrown open to traffic two years ago on the incomplete stretch. This is causing accidents as safety walls are broken at many places in Rajasthan.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had made many promises regarding the country’s longest and most equipped expressway. But the NHAI officials neither worked as per the minister’s wishes nor did they care about the safety of the common man.
