Previous govt’s mismanagement leads to reduced cash balance: CAG
Jaipur: The CAG report which was tabled in the assembly on Wednesday has revealed that the previous govt could not keep the deficit within the limit. It also discloses that in financial year 2022-23, the previous government could not keep the fiscal deficit within the 3% limit of GDP as mandated by the FRBM Act, which requires govts to maintain fiscal deficits within 3% of GDP.
It was noted that the state treasury had a stark reduction of Rs 4,354 crore in capital expenditure, leaving only Rs 32.65 crore as cash balance by the end of March 2023. The report criticized the state government for unrealistic budget estimates. The financial performance of the state’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) was deemed weak, with 17 out of 47 PSUs reporting a loss of Rs 18,813.91 crore. The CAG report also highlighted irregularities in the Vahan and Sarathi applications of the Transport Department.
