Power crisis: Farmers to get power during night only, wind energy also falls short

Jaipur: Amid the scorching heat, the demand for electricity is increasing continuously in Rajasthan. For load management, power cuts are being done from villages to towns.

Despite this, supply is not below 2400 lakh units in a day in April.

Looking at the supply graph of Discoms, the minimum supply on April 1 was 2423 lakh units which increased to 2735 lakh units on April 19. There is more supply of 450 lakh units in April as compared to last year.

Jaipur Discom MD Ajit Saxena is keeping an eye on the situation. Saxena said that power cuts are necessary for load management. “By the way, the effort is that people face the least problems. For this, the farmers’ block is being shifted during night,” said Saxena.

Meanwhile, wind energy is not getting as expected in April as only an average of 156 lakh units of electricity is being available daily. The maximum supply of 315 lakh units of wind energy was on April 12. Whereas on April 23, production of wind energy remained only 33 lakh units.
