Political appointees await ‘power perks’

Jaipur: Even after political appointments, the deputy chairman presidents made in various boards and commissions in the government have not yet got the official status of deputy ministers. First, after 3 years of government formation, political appointments were given late, now salary and vehicle allowance has been given but they need minister’s status and are hurt by not getting the status, as yet. The condition of Congress leaders who became deputy chairman in various boards and commissions is far from alright. Their chairman has the status and facilities of a minister, but the vicechairman or deputy chairman is not getting all these ‘perks’.

The MLAs who came from BSP to Congress were given political appointments. Efforts have been made to give, but the leaders, who have already got political appointments now feel cheated due to lack of leaders’ powers. Non MLA Chairmans who got political appointments were given facilities within a few days by giving them the status of cabinet and minister of state, but no status was given to the deputy chairmaen. As on July 19, the deputy chairmen get Rs 30,000 as salary, Rs 30,000 as conveyance allowance or traveling allowance, Rs 10,000 as house allowance and Rs 5000 as telephone or mobile allowance for a month, which totals to Rs 75,000. . But most of the vice-chairmen are unhappy with the salary because they want the status of a minister, not the salary.
