Planet v/s Plastic: Forest Dept planning to make forests in State free from plastic

Jaipur: The forest department is planning to make forest areas plastic free in Rajasthan. The department is going to completely ban plastic in all national parks, wild life sanctuaries and protect forest areas of the state. Chief Wildlife Warden PK Upadhyay will issue orders.

Rajasthan has three national parks and 26 wild life sanctuaries covering an area of about 9395 square kilometers.

Tiger safari is going on at 3 places in the state, other safari or park tours are being held at 22 places.

In such a situation, the decision to ban plastic will prove to be a milestone in environment protection on the lines of ‘Planet v/s Plastic’- the theme of World Earth Day this year.

Action will be taken as per rules if tourists or others carry plastic. Forest department will initially put up sign boards to make the general public aware. Staff will also make tourists aware about ‘no plastic’.
