PIL seeks contempt of court case against CM

Jaipur: A day after Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot alleged rampant corruption in the judiciary, a lawyer on Thursday filed a PIL for criminal contempt against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan HC’s Jaipur bench.

A division bench of the high court refused to conduct an early hearing on the PIL.Gehlot on Wednesday said there was rampant corruption in the judiciary, alleging that there were cases in which lawyers drafted the judgment.

A Jaipur-based petitioner Shiv Charan Gupta filed a PIL in the High Court praying that a suo moto cognizance be taken against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for contempt of court through his statement against the judiciary.

He requested for early hearing of the PIL but the bench refused the request made by the petitioner to hear the matter on priority.The PIL is likely to be heard on September 4.
