Petrol pump strike leads to losses worth crores

Jaipur: The agitation of petrol pump owners demanding reduction in VAT and increasing dealer commission is gaining momentum in Rajasthan. Its maximum impact was visible in Jaipur. For the second consecutive day, more than 750 petrol pumps in Jaipur remained closed from 10 am to 6 pm. However, as there has been no assurance from the government, petroleum dealers have announced an indefinite strike starting today.

The state government suffered a loss of Rs 90 crore in 16 hours during the two-day strike. 6712 petrol pumps of the state remained shut, hitting sales of about 32,000 kilo litres of diesel and 1.40 lakh kilo litres of petrol. Petrol pumps will be shut from 6 am on Friday.
