Petrol dealers’ strike throws life out of gear in Raj; incurs loss of Rs 44 cr in 8 hrs

Jaipur: More than 6,700 petrol pumps in Rajasthan remained closed from 10 am to 6 pm on Monday under strike by petrol pump operators against high VAT on diesel and petrol in the state.

The strike caused revenue loss of Rs 44 crore in eight hours. The sale of 15231 KL diesel and 68859 KL petrol got affected due to the strike on Wednesday, which will continue today as well for the same duration.

The strike caused a lot of trouble to the people who needed petrol and diesel for their vehicles.
Many people in Jaipur were seen wandering from one pump to another. Some of them had run out of fuel & had no choice but to wait. Some of them had arguments with petrol pump operators who refused to give fuel. Prez of Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers’ Association, Dr RS Bhati, said that association had informed govt about demands two weeks ago, but the government did not give any response.
