People living near power lines likely to get ‘pattas’
Jaipur: In a ray of hope for people living near high tension electricity lines for getting lease of their plots, the Jaipur Development Authority has sent a proposal to the Urban Development and Housing department to consider the guidelines of the centre.
The right of way of high tension lines in Rajasthan is wider than the centre’s guidelines and if these guidelines are implemented, then leases of plots in a majority of colonies settled near the high tension lines would be issued.
The right of way is a strip of land where the transmission line is constructed, erected, operated and maintained.
The JDA forwarded the proposal on representation of Prithviraj Nagar Jan Vikas Samiti.
The Union Ministry had sent a letter to chief secretaries of all districts on July 16, 2020 in context of the right of way. If the provisions as per the ministry’s letter are implemented, then lakhs of leases may be issued in the state for plots located near the high tension lines.
The leases can be issued under Prashasan Shahron ke Sang campaign. Lakhs of people live near high tension lines in many cities of the state. They live in colonies of housing societies. In Jaipur also, the number of such families is around 20,000 families who live in Prithviraj Nagar scheme.
A notification was issued by the UDH on February 3, 2015 according to which it is necessary to leave 105 feet of right of way below the high tension line of 132 KV.
