Pant’s appointment as CS raises hope in Raj’s administration!
Jaipur: They say history repeats itself. Atleast as far as Rajasthan’s administrative history is concerned, it has been repeated after four decades with regards to appointment of Chief Secretary in the state. It is an interesting fact that the manner in which Sudhansh Pant has been sent from the Centre to handle the administrative reins of the state, similarly, in January 1981, MMK Vali was also sent to the state. At that time, Indira Gandhi was the prime minister and Jagannath Pahadia was the Chief Minister in Rajasthan and under just six months of Pahadia’s Chief Ministerial tenure, the administrative set up was in shambles. However, under CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, the administration is running at its best pace and now with CS Sudhansh pant at helm, it is believed that the state’s administration will ‘soar’ to greater heights.
When in December 1980 GK Bhanot retired from the chair of CS, then the Central government sent MMK Vali, who was on deputation to Delhi, as its ‘nominee’ to the CS’s chair. In later years, ML Mehta, Rajeev Mehrishi and Usha Sharma also came from central deputations to become CS in state. But in all three cases, the then Chief Ministers - Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Vasundhara Raje and Ashok Gehlot - called the officers owing to their trust in them.
In the case of Sudhansh Pant, he has been sent to Jaipur by Delhi as Centre’s nominee. BJP’s new CM - Bhajan Lal Sharma - is new to administration and thus to again bring the state’s administration to the lofty echelons of the yesteryears will be a task and responsibility for Sudhansh Pant. The Centre has again sidelined state officials and has nominated Sudhansh Pant for this coveted responsibility.
