Pant gets NOC, to head for Central deputation now!

Jaipur: IAS Sudhansh Pant will head to Delhi as the state government has given him NOC to head for deputation to the central government. With this, the suspense and speculation over Pant heading to Delhi, or not, has also come to an end. Now he will serve as Secretary in the Central government.

It is believed that owing to Pant’s connect and image in the central government, he may get a call soon. Pant, a 1991 batch IAS, has five years of service still left and till then he may continue to serve in the Centre. When in March 2020, during the first wave of covid, Pant was called to Centre on special deputation, he continued to serve in Delhi till December 2021, after he was given an extension on deputation. This was so because from 2014 to 2019, Pant had served in the Union Health Ministry and therefore, he was called specially.

At that time itself, Pant had requested the state government to allow him to continue serving in the Centre, but instead of giving him NOC, in January 2021, he was called back to Rajasthan, given a promotion to the post of additional chief secretary and handed the reins of PHED.

Pant was assured that after June 2022, once the drinking water problem comes to an end, he would be given the NOC to head to Delhi, but the situation developed so fast that suddenly in April 2022, he was transferred from PHED to Pollution Control Board as its Chairman.

Not only that, ten days back he was given a three year appointment on the same post. Government’s order shocked the entire bureaucracy and it was thought that Pant would not be able to go to Delhi for the next three years. Sources reveal that Sudhansh Pant met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot last week and after that, on Wednesday, he was given the NOC to head to Delhi. It is said that the three year appointment order will also not curtail Pant’s move to Delhi.
