NWR abolishes 317 posts; 300 more to go soon

Jaipur: The North Western Railway has abolished 317 posts and nearly 300 more would also be abolished. The Railway Board sent a letter to NWR GM on June 7 for surrendering the posts.
The NWR was given a target to surrender 600 posts in the last financial year but only 317 posts were surrendered and nearly 300 posts are remaining. As per the work-study report, the surrender of 997 posts is pending. There is pressure to abolish almost 1600 posts including the target of the current fiscal year.

The exercise is being opposed by the employees. On the other hand, ex-servicemen will be given appointments as gatemen on a contractual basis in place of permanent employees. At present, nearly 15000 posts are lying vacant in the NWR.
