No ‘stampede-like’ situation in Congress: Gehlot on leaders leaving party

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has denied any ‘stampede-like’ situation in the Congress party after Hardik Patel quit the Gujarat Congress and Punjab Congress leader Sunil Jakhar joined the BJP. On the question of youth leaving the Congress, Gehlot said, “There is no stampede among the youth leaders. Few people have gone before and will go further. You also see that we do not take their leaders.” Gehlot interacted with the media at the Pradesh Congress headquarters.

Gehlot said, “Congress never takes hardcore people of BJP and RSS, rather our people joing BJP which is not a new thing. The ideology of BJP does not suit us at all. Till today, only a few people from the BJP or the RSS would have come in the Congress, like Shankar Singh Vaghela of Gujarat, rest who is accepting them in their parties.”

“But now the fi re has started, at least extinguish it fi rst. They always set fi re and we Congress people do the work of extinguishing the fi re. People will gradually understand that for the unity, integrity and development of the country, follow the policies and programs and principles that the Congress party has been maintaining,” Gehlot said, further adding, ‘Right now people are excited in the name of religion, they are talking about Hinduism.’
