No power cuts after 15 days: Kumawat

Jaipur: In a relief for consumers, Discom MD RN Kumawat said that people will no longer have to face power cuts in the name of maintenance in Jaipur. The power cuts announced in the city circle of Jaipur Discom will stop after the next fortnight. According to the Discom administration, about 60 percent of the maintenance work has been completed and the remaining work is being done on a war footing. The administration claims that the entire maintenance work will be completed by November 5.

In a conversation with First India, Kumawat said that maintenance is done every year before Diwali. Maintenance is on in the field in compliance with RERC rules. During this period, wherever needed, transformers are being upgraded. A total of 290 transformers are being upgraded in Jaipur city. Kumawat claimed that after Nov 5, there will be no maintenance related power cuts at any place.

After the maintenance work is completed, markets will be illuminated with subsidized electricity on Diwali. Normal rate will be charged on temporary electricity connections of more than 25 kilowatts. Generally, the tariff for temporary connection is one-and-ahalf-times but Jaipur Discom administration issued orders regarding the general tariff.
