MLAs’ resignations hearing held in HC

Jaipur: The reply in the matter of the resignation of 91 MLAs of the Congress party was presented in Rajasthan High court on behalf of the Principal Secy of Legislative Assembly on Monday. It was said in the reply that 81 MLAs, not 91, had sent resignations in which photocopies of the resignations of five MLAs were presented while six MLAs had presented these resignations.

On behalf of the Secy, it was said that the MLAs have withdrawn their resignations by appearing in person. Legislators can withdraw resignation under Vidhan Sabha Rule-173(4).

It was said that the assembly Speaker rejected the above resignations on Jan 13 on the basis of withdrawal therefore the petition has become infructuous. On this, the bench of Justice MM Srivastava and Justice CK Songara asked the petitioner to present his counter-reply and adjourned the hearing till January 20.
