Media should work responsibly, avoid creating fear, says Thakur

Jaipur: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur while speaking at the silver jubilee programme of Mahanagar Times at Birla Auditorium on Wednesday, said . “ We are working to introduce a bill to rgulate digital media,” he informed. The Minister further said that the process of registration of newspapers would be simplified. “The Central government will soon bring a new law to replace the previous law of 1867. Under this, it will be possible to complete the registration process, which now takes about four months, in a week through online mode,” he said. He said that the Centre is working in the direction of Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living. Be it the registration of companies or the process of opening a bank account by a common citizen, all have been simplified. He urged that the media should do its work responsibly and avoid creating an atmosphere of fear and confusion. He said that the Centre also takes care of the interests of journalists.
