Mayor Dr Somya’s acquittal challenged

Jaipur: Mayor of JMCG Dr Somya is in trouble again as Commissioner Yagyamitra Singh Deo has now approached a higher court after a lower court acquitted her of the charges of abetting assault on him. Deo filed a review petition in the District and Sessions here on Wednesday.

During a meeting in June last year, Dr Somya and Deo had a tiff over some matter. In a huff, Deo tried to leave the meeting but some councillors allegedly assaulted him.

Arguing on behalf of the petitioner Commissioner, his counsel Adv AK Jain & Associates submitted that the order of the lower court is contrary to the facts while the statements of the witnesses support the complainant’s version only. The D&S court has now posted its hearing to Saturday
