LAW & ORDER IN RAJ BETTER THAN OTHER STATES, SAYS CM

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot while addressing the Passing Out Parade of Rajasthan Police Academy on Friday. said that the conviction rate in criminal cases has increased in the State as compared to the national level, which is a testament to the excellent work of the State Police. “With innovations like Special Investigation Unit, Heinous Crime Monitoring Unit, Cyber Crime Investigation Unit, Serious Fraud Investigation Unit, the State Police has made a distinct identity across the country,” he said. He took the salute as the chief guest in the convocation parade of the joint batch of 455 Trainee Police Sub-Inspector and Platoon Commanders and inspected the parade.

Congratulating the sub-inspectors and platoon commanders who were inducted, he said that the training of law, crime research, cyber crime, VIP security and practical knowledge gained during the training will help them in discharging their duties. “Various steps have been taken by State Govt to establish better coordination between the police and the masses. Reception rooms have been set up at 834 police stations. Mandatory registration of FIR has facilitated the process of registering criminal cases,” he said.

Women security in the state has been strengthened through innovative initiatives like Nirbhaya Squad, recruitment of women volunteers and Suraksha Sakhi, he said. Where in 2018, 30 percent cases of women atrocities were registered from the courts, today their number has come down to 13%. “The average time taken to investigate crimes has come down from 169 to 49 days,” he said. DGP ML Lather said that with the budget allocation of the state government, now policemen are also being trained in cyber and forensic research.
