Kin of leaders in poll fray: 18 in Cong, 11 from BJP get tickets

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s upcoming elections on November 25 are witnessing a resurgence of family politics. Both principal parties, Congress and BJP, have revealed their candidates for many seats with some of them reflecting the prevalence of dynastic politics. Remarkably, both parties have distributed over two dozen tickets due to family connections.

The common party worker’s hopes of receiving a ticket often go unfulfilled, as established politicians or family members take precedence. The BJP has announced candidates for 124 seats, with 11 from political families. In contrast, Congress has fielded candidates for 74 seats, including 15 individuals with political family backgrounds. About two dozen seats have been allocated exclusively to political family members.

Throughout the candidate selection, daughters have succeeded their mothers, sons have replaced fathers, and in some cases, brothers-inlaw, wives, and husbands have secured tickets.

As the elections approach, family ties in politics continue to dominate the landscape in Rajasthan. The BJP is actively supporting political legacies by nominating candidates with strong family backgrounds.
