Joshi discusses policy on drinking water
Jaipur: The proposed policy for providing drinking water connection to multi-storey buildings in cities will soon be finalized and approved. The specialty of this new policy is that it will be made for multistorey buildings located in cities across the state, whereas earlier circulars issued in 2016 and 2020 were issued keeping in mind the provision of drinking water connection to multi-storey buildings of Jaipur city only. Institutional complexes and multistorey buildings of industrial institutions have also been included.
In a meeting headed by PHED Minister Mahesh Joshi at Jal Bhawan on Friday, a detailed discussion was held with the builders and officials of the Resident Welfare Society on the proposed draft policy for this. Joshi said that providing drinking water is a service to the common man. He said, “As a minister, it is my responsibility to take decisions in the interest of the common man.”
ACS (PHED) Subodh Agarwal said that if any further changes are necessary in policy, then suggestions will be taken from stakeholders.
A fee of `35 per sqft (built-up area) for residential multi-storey buildings and `42 per sqft for commercial multi-storey buildings has been proposed. In mixed use multi-storey buildings, `35 per square feet has been proposed in residential areas and `42 in commercial areas.
