Jolt to liquor traders: Govt to run 97 liquor shops in Jaipur

Jaipur: The Excise department gave a jolt to the liquor traders who are continuously pressurising the department regarding the guarantee amount. The government has decided to run the 97 liquor shops falling in Jaipur. This decision was taken in an important meeting chaired by FSR Suresh Gupta on Tuesday.

These 97 liquor shops will be operated by RSBCL, Ganganagar Sugar Mill and Tourism Corporation. With this, arbitrary rates being charged by liquor contractors will also be controlled and revenue leakage will also stop. These 97 shops will not be included in the auction of liquor shops across the state. Excise Commissioner, Joint Secretary Finance (Excise), Additional Excise Commissioner Zone Jaipur, District Excise Officer Jaipur City, RSBCL and GSM officials were present in the meeting.

“For the operation of these liquor shops, 258 employees have been selected by Ganganagar Sugar Mill and 60 by RSBCL. They have been requested by the Tourism Corporation to authorize them to operate more liquor shops,” said an official.
