JMC Greater to mint money from garbage

Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (Greater) will now make money from the garbage collected in the city. The civic authority has awarded a tender to a firm that will remove plastic, metal, glass and other essential items from the daily waste. The corporation will provide 50 tons of household waste to the firm everyday, while the firm will pay Rs. 55 per ton to the municipal corporation in return. The corporation will also provide space for setting up a plant in Sevapura at a monthly rent of Rs 15,000. Officials estimate that the civic body will earn more than Rs. 10 lakhs annually. The JMCG is starting it as a pilot project that will also ensure the disposal of garbage in the city
