Jaipur court rejects ACB plea to collect Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s voice sample

Jaipur: Union Jal Shakti Minister GS Shekhawat got a major relief from the district court of Jaipur on Friday in the matter of conspiracy to topple Gehlot government in Rajasthan. The court upheld the decision of the subordinate court which had refused to allow the ACB to take Shekhawat’s voice sample. Against this decision, the ACB appealed in the higher court by filing a petition, which was dismissed on Friday. Now Union Minister Shekhawat will not have to give any voice sample for examination. Reprimanding the ACB, the court said in the order that the ACB did not make any effort to take the voice sample of Bhanwar Lal Sharma while he was alive.

During the hearing of the petition, it was said in the court on behalf of Shekhawat that since the order of the ACB is interlocutory, that is, given in the middle of the court proceedings, therefore voice sampling cannot be done. Meanwhile, Lokesh Sharma OSD to CM Gehlot, hit back on issue saying, “I think there is no need for any application for voice sample, because GS Shekhawat had lodged an FIR in March 2021 where it is written in the FIR ‘My conversation was intercepted illegally and circulated’. So he himself is accepting this. The fact that he lodged an FIR against me should be taken as basis for further probe.”
