It was my fault to make Kesari Singh member of RPSC, says CM

Jaipur: Responding to the row over appointment of retired Colonel Kesari Singh as the RPSC member, CM Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that he was hurt by remarks of Singh in videos. “It was my mistake to make Kesari Singh a member of RPSC. We are calling him, but we are not able to contact him. A person who has served in the army should give restrained statements,” he told media at PCC war room after a meeting. Earlier, CM Gehlot also posted his comments on social media.

Gehlot posted comments on social media, “On one hand, our government did the historic work of recruiting 3 lakhs, which is probably the highest in the country. And on the other hand, some incidents of paper leak came to light. Similar situation prevails in most of the states. Papers were leaked even in Army and Judiciary. With this in mind, the government thought that officers from Army background should be given a place in institutions like RPSC and RSSB.

So that the credibility of these institutions is maintained. Recently the government appointed Major General Alok Raj as the Chairman of RSSB and recommended the appointment of Colonel Kesari Singh as member in RPSC. Both of them neither applied nor did they receive any recommendation. They were appointed considering their 37 years of service and 20 years of military service respectively. Any person serving in the army is expected to serve the country irrespective of caste, religion, class etc. Soldiers sacrifice their lives to protect the country’s borders. That’s why they are respected in society. After the appointment of Colonel Kesari Singh, some of his statements went viral on social media. Those given against a particular caste and a particular person, which is condemnable, painful and unfortunate. I too am deeply hurt by his comments. Our government had recommended his appointment in view of his military background.”
