‘It not our culture to promote alcohol’

Jaipur: Commenting on the “Shuddh Sharab” scheme of the excise department from 16 September, BJP state president Satish Poonia on Thursday said that the Congress takes the help of alcohol to increase public support. “It is not in our culture to encourage alcohol like this. Revenue can be earned from other sources but alcohol is not of a civilized society,” he said.

Poonia said many cases of adulteration are found but what happens to culprits is not known. He alleged that adulteration takes place due to patronage by the state government. “How will the govt stop adulteration when there is adulteration in itself ? There is the adulteration of BSP, left and independents in govt,” he commented in a satirical manner.

Speaking about the BJP’s membership campaign, he said membership of BJP happens only during organizational session. Poonia also inaugurated a workshop of BJP’s Panchayati Raj public representatives who came from across the state. Chandrashekhar, Gulab Chand Kataria, and Rajendra Rathore also addressed the workshop in different sessions.
