Include Rajasthani language in 8th Schedule: Kalla at JLF

Jaipur: Education Minister BD Kalla on Sunday laid stress on giving recognition to Rajasthani language saying that not recognising Rajasthani language is an insult to 10 crore people of the State.

“Rajasthani language should be recognised. The language spoken by only 10 lakh people is recognised while the language spoken by 10 crore people is deprived of recognition,” he said.

The Minister said that the day the people of Rajasthan decided not to vote until the language is recognised, that day everyone will understand the spirit of Rajasthanis,” he said.

He said that a proposal has been sent by the Rajasthan government to the centre but no action has been taken so far.

“Central Government’s attitude is an insult to Rajasthanis,” he added. He was speaking at Poet Kanhaiyalal Sethia Awardan award ceremony at Jaipur Literature festival.

The Minister also raised the demand for the Nobel prize for Poet Kanhaiyalal Sethia.
He said the way Sethia has worked through his poems, he should get the Nobel Prize.
