In bank robbery bid, PNB cashier shot at, 2 held

Jaipur: Two masked robbers entered a Punjab National Bank branch in Jaipur on Friday, held the staff members at gunpoint and one of them shot and injured the cashier, police said. The duo identified as Bharat Singh & Manoj Meena have been arrested, they said.

They entered the PNB branch in Jhotwara area to loot cash. They held the staff members at gunpoint and after an argument with cashier Narendra Singh Shekhawat, one of them fired at him. The cashier sustained a bullet injury in the stomach and is undergoing treatment at a pvt hospital, ACP KC Bishnoi said. The entire incident was recorded in CCTV cameras in and outside bank. “One of the accused was carrying a countrymade pistol & the other a dummy weapon,” Bishnoi said. A woman constable patrolling managed to nab one of accused, Bharat Singh.
