IAS ROHIT K SINGH’S RETIREMENT NARROWS RAJ’S SECRETARY-LEVEL PARTICIPATION AT CENTRE

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s participation in the Central Government has further reduced. With the retirement of Rohit Kumar Singh, only three IAS officers of Rajasthan cadre at the secretary level are in the Centre, including V Srinivas, Sanjay Malhotra and Rajat Kumar Mishra.

Administrative experts remember that at one time, 10 IAS officers of Rajasthan were at the secretary level in the Centre. Tanmay Kumar (1993 batch) is the only IAS officer from Rajasthan who can be promoted to the post of Secretary in the near future. Nareshpal Gangwar and Roli Singh, working at the Centre on the post of Additional Secretary, have not been empaneled for the post of Secretary yet.

Rohit Kumar Singh retired as Secretary of Consumer Affairs on March 31. The state of affairs is that the Rajasthan cadre’s three present secretaries will remain working for a long time. V Srinivas still has two-and-a-half years left for his retirement (September 2026), Sanjay Maltotra has four full years left (February 2028), and Rajat Mishra also has about four years left for retirement (January 2028).

The entire bureaucracy is looking towards Sanjay Malhotra with hopeful eyes. He currently holds the very important and high position of Secretary of Finance (Revenue).

He is now just one step away from the top position of Cabinet Secretary in the Central Government. It is believed that Sanjay Malhotra will also get the responsibility of playing a new innings in the third term of the Modi government.
