2 times scuffling, 2 times proceedings adjourned, 2 times Dhariwal had to apologize

Jaipur: Rajasthan assembly on Thursday witnessed heavy uproar on derogatory comments made by parl affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal during reply to debate on grant to police department on Wednesday night.

The house was adjourned twice and the minister also gave a statement of apology twice, saying it was a tongue of slip due to which some wrong words came out of his mouth.

As soon as the house assembled at 11 am, LoP Gulab Chand Kataria raised the matter and oppn members protested against the Dhariwal’s remarks. “Yesterday we walked out. After which the minister admitted that Rajasthan is number 1 in rape cases. What he said after this was very unfortunate.

He said that it was because Rajasthan has been a state of men,” Kataria said following which the BJP started creating ruckus. During the uproar, Dhariwal tendered an apology for his remarks made during his reply to a debate on the grant for the police department on Wednesday night, but the opposition continued to protest in the House.

Despite repeated directions by the Speaker to maintain order in the House, the opposition continued to protest. Kataria said that Dhariwal should give his statement once again so that the opposition members and people of the state can listen to him.

After the Speaker allowed Dhariwal to speak, he again sought an apology for his remarks and the house started functioning normally
