HC stays order of release of 12 accused of SI recruitment case

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has halted the release of 12 accused persons involved in the paper leak case of the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination held in 2021.

Justice Sudesh Bansal issued this order while hearing the criminal petition filed by the state government. Earlier, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate had ordered the release of the accused on bail, considering their illegal detention.

State government lawyer Anurag Sharma argued before the court that on April 12, the lower court had ordered the release of the accused, considering their illegal detention, whereas earlier on April 4, the same court had remanded the accused to police custody. Sharma contended that if their detention was indeed illegal, then the magistrate should have released them during the previous hearing. Once the magistrate issued orders for police custody, it wouldn’t be termed as illegal detention.

Four accused Hariom Patidar from Dungarpur, Shyam Pratap Singh from Jodhpur, Vikram Jeet Bishnoi from Bikaner, and Shravan Kumar Godara have been remanded in custody.
