HC serves notice to BJP MLA and wife for petrol pump on govt land

Jaipur: The Rajasthan HC issued show-cause notices to five, including Phulera MLA Nirmal Kumawat and his wife for construction of a petrol pump on government land of the Public Health Engineering Department in Phulera.

Advocate Poonam Chand Bhandari, appearing for petitioner Sitaram Kumawat, told the court that Kumawat, using his influence, allotted a petrol pump in the name of his wife and got it constructed. Whereas in the revenue records, this land belongs to the Public Health Engineering Department and PWD Department. In 1997, Kumawat, in connivance with the revenue officers, officers of water supply department and engineers of PWD department, constructed a petrol pump. Hindustan Petroleum also allotted a petrol pump in Kumawat’s wife’s name.

Earlier, the HC had issued a show-cause notice to the Chief Secretary, PWD, Assistant Chief Secy, Public Health Engineering Dept and District Collector, Jaipur, but the govt has sought time for a reply.
