HC quashes death penalty to 3 men in gangrape case
Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has quashed the death sentence awarded to two men in a gangrape and murder case by a POCSO Court in Bundi. The division bench of Justice Pankaj Bhandari and Justice Bhuwan Goyal quashed the death sentence and acquitted both men. In April 2022, the trial court awarded the death penalty to the two accused, Chotelal and Sultan, calling the case “rarest of rare”. The high court in its judgment observed that in a case of circumstantial evidence, each and every link of the case should be established, but the links of this case have not been found together and in such a situation the entire theory of the prosecution becomes doubtful.
