HC quashes appointment of Dr Ambedkar Law varsity VC

Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has quashed the appointment of Dr Dev Swaroop as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University.

A division bench of acting Chief Justice MM Srivastava and Justice Vinod Kumar Bharwani said in the order that the Vice-Chancellor of the Law University should have experience in legal education.

It is a single subject university and in such a situation, like other single subject universities like medical and agricultural University, the Vice Chancellor of Law University should also have experience in the field of law education.

The bench said that it was not going into the aspect of validity of Section 11(17) of the Act of the University, but in view of the provisions contained in Section 11(2), the appointment of Dev Swaroop is being set aside.
