Hanuman Chalisa recited to decry ‘attack on Hindus’

Jaipur: Thousands of people participated on Sunday in a demonstration to protest the brutal killing of tailor Kanhaiya Lal by two men in Udaipur. Members of the RSS, VHP and other Hindu organisations attended demonstration called under the banner of Sarv Hindu Samaj demanding death penalty for the accused.

No politician was given place on the stage. The speakers accused the police and the govt of stopping the people coming to the event by putting up barricades. The main demonstration was held at Statue Circle where Hanuman Chalisa was also played on loud speakers. Officials said permission for the demonstration had been granted.

Former state BJP president Arun Chaturvedi, MP Ramcharan Bohra, Kalicharan Saraf, Raghav Sharma, Mohan Lal Gupta, Dr Somya and others were also present at the demo. “Huge support extended by the people to this demonstration reflects that Hindus are awakened and united for the sake of the Sanatan dharma,” local RSS leader Indresh Kumar said.

Elaborate security arrangements were made and tight vigil had been kept in the area via drones. People shouted Jai Shri Ram and carried placards with slogans like ‘Jihadi mentality should end’, ‘Arrest Sleeper cells’ etc. Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava himself reached the venue and urged the organizers to for peaceful event. The road from Surajpol to Badi Chaupar was closed. The police also stopped many people on Ajmer Road. Mahant Kailash Sharma of Moti Dungri Ganesh temple, Mahant Balmukundacharya, Raghavacharya of Revasa Peethadhis, Saurabh Raghavendacharya of Pachar Peeth also attended.
