Guv urges agri scientists to innovate amid climate change
Jaipur: Governor Kalraj Mishra has called upon agricultural scientists to develop techniques to protect crops from the adverse effects of climate change and for higher yield in less water.
He expressed the need to continuously work for the development of education in the agricultural sector in line with the global needs and also for the development of fundamental vision of research and research in universities for agricultural progress.
Mishra was addressing the sixth convocation ceremony of Sri Karan Narendra Agricultural University, Jobner on Wednesday.
He said that the university should also work continuously for the skill development of the students by partnering with world class institutions. He also stressed on paying special attention to qualitative development of agricultural education and motivating youth for agricultural entrepreneurship in the context of the new education policy.
The governor expressed the need to include courses related to development of improved seeds in farming along with effective policies of agricultural processing and agricultural marketing under agricultural education. Describing the Constitution as supreme, the Governor said that the Constitution cannot be changed.
“The Constitution itself has given us rights and has also given us duties,” he said.
He called upon the youth to connect with the culture of the Constitution. Mishra said that instead of becoming an employment seeker, youths become an employment provider.
He also urged the youth to play an important role in taking the economy of emerging India to a higher level in the world by setting up agricultural enterprises.
Mishra also honored Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon with the honorary degree of Doctorate of Science on behalf of the university in the convocation ceremony.
