Govt to table Advocates Protection Bill in Assembly session on March 15

Jaipur: The ongoing agitation of the advocates for the ‘Advocates Protection Act’ is likely to end. The Committee constituted by State Govt held talks with the officials of Bar Association in the Secretariat in Jaipur on Thursday. Law Minister Shanti Dhariwal presided over the meeting through video conferencing.

PHED Minister Dr Mahesh Joshi, Food Minister Pratap S Khachariyawas & department officers, office bearers of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur, Bar Association , Jaipur and the District Advocates Bar Association, Jaipur were present in the meeting. The representatives from Jodhpur joined through VC.

After talks, the State Government assured to table the bill in the Assembly session on March 15 and pass it on March 21. Advocates have expressed happiness at this. This matter will be discussed in the meeting of the Sangharsh Committee and a decision will be taken regarding boycott of judicial work by advocates and proposed assembly ‘gherao’ on March 13.
