It was decided in a high-level meeting chaired by UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal. Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena was also present in the meeting.

On the other hand, sources said, sympathetic consideration will be made in the meeting of the syndicate of the university to give 10750 square meters of land for the project. The syndicate has been given a time of 15 days to consider matter.

On the other hand, student union representatives also met Dhariwal at his residence and opposed the proposed land acquisition.

Dhariwal said that land was required for expansion of facilities.

A delegation of Rajasthan University’s Teachers Association also met Dhariwal against the proposed land acquisition. When the teachers asked the minister “Have you seen Gokhale hostel?”, the minister silenced them with his answer He said, “I have lived in Gokhale Hostel for many years, every place of the hostel is in my knowledge. I will not compromise with the development of Gokhale Hostel. The land that is being taken is for public use.”

He also said that whatever construction of Maharaja College and Gokhale Hostel will be removed, it will be reconstructed by JDA.

“If you want, get it done first,” he said. This thinking of the minister won the hearts of those who protested.

In a high-level meeting held at Dhariwal’s residence, VC of Rajasthan University expressed disagreement on giving the land citing future requirements. The VC said that the college will require the land in future for expansion of facilities therefore university will not give land.
