GOVT REJECTS OPP’S CBI PROBE DEMAND

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Government on Tuesday turned down the demand of a CBI probe into the paper leak cases in the State.

Rejecting the demand of the Opposition, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal said that the State police is completely competent to investigate the matter.

“The Rajasthan Police is capable of investigation and we are satisfied with the investigation. SOG is taking further action. The matter is being investigated fast,” he said, adding that two recommendations of the committee constituted in this matter have been accepted.

He said that the Gehlot government has taken action against the culprits while before no such action was taken by the previous government in the paper leak cases.

Dhariwal said that in the past 10 years, 12 cases were sent to the CBI of which 10 cases were filed and closure report was filed in seven cases. He cited the example of Shivani incident when Kalicharan Saraf was a Minister. “I reject the CBI demand because Rajasthan Police is capable,” he said.

Dhariwal said that the Congress government is standing with the youth and no guilty will be spared in the case.
He said that the cases of paper leak have also come to the fore earlier.

The minister informed that 19 cases were registered in 4 years before 2019, in this 241 were arrested, 55 people are still at large whereas in the year 2019, one case was registered, 2 cases were registered in 2020, 5 in 2021 and 7 in 2022.

Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria asked what the government was afraid of.
“Why does the government not want the CBI to investigate paper leaks in Rajasthan? Papers are being leaked in every recruitment and the state government is protecting the culprits,” he asked.
