Govt defers hiring of sanitation workers following protest

Jaipur: The State government on Wednesday postponed the recruitment of sanitation workers following the protest of the Valmiki community over reservation in the recruitment of sanitation workers. The Department of Local Self-Government issued an order in this regard and postponed the recruitment. Notably, the department issued a notification on April 21 regarding the recruitment of 13164 posts.

The sanitation workers continued their strike for the second consecutive day on Wednesday over the issue of reservation in the recruitment of sanitation workers. Notably, the Sanyukt Valmiki and Safai Shramik Sangh have demanded to fill 100 per cent of posts in this recruitment from the people of the Valmiki community only.
