GOVERNOR ACCEPTS RESIGNATION OF CM GEHLOT, URGES HIM TO WORK TILL FORMATION OF NEW GOVERNMENT

Jaipur: As the Congress faced defeat in Rajasthan, outgoing CM Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said the poll results were “unexpected for everyone”. He, however, rejected the theory that bringing forward “new faces” would have helped the party retain power.

Gehlot submitted his resignation to Governor Kalraj Mishra on Sunday evening after his Congress party was defeated. He lashed out at PM Modi and HM Shah, alleging they incited people in the name of religion during the election campaign. The Congress leader said that he had expected that the people of the state would take “revenge” on the BJP leaders but it did not happen. Governor accepted Ashok Gehlot’s resignation from the post of CM but urged him to continue working till formation of the new government.
