Gogamedi murder: NIA raids 31 places in Rajasthan & Haryana

Jaipur/Jhunjhunu: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted searches at 31 places in Rajasthan and Haryana in connection with the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. The raids are still underway at the locations of suspects linked to the case which the Central agency registered last month following orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Multiple NIA teams carried out these searches in close coordination with the state Police forces. The move comes days after the NIA takes over the case from Rajasthan Police considering the involvement of high-profile gangsters in murder.

During the raid, NIA arrested a prime suspect, Ashok Kumar Meghwal, resident of Jherli village from his house in Jhunjhunu. 8 weapons have been seized from the accused. The interrogation of the accused revealed his suspicious role in the case and also revealed his connection with gangster Rohit Godara, who had allegedly inspired the two shooters to kill Sri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena president Gogamedi. Including this arrest, a total of 9 accused have been arrested so far.

The Karni Sena chief was shot dead on Dec 5 at his residence in Jaipur by three shooters. Soon after the murder, gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence gang, claimed responsibility for Gogamedi’s murder. The two shooters, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were arrested on Dec 9 in Chandigarh. They informed the police that it was Godara who had ordered murder. The primary investigation also found that shooters, while absconding, were in contact with Godara’s close aides Virendra Charan and Danaram.
