Gem, jewellery exports decline; export of coloured gems increase

Jaipur: In a major setback, there is a decline witnessed in the export of gems and jewellery. Whereas, the trend of improvement in the export of coloured gems continues. There was a total decline of 4.52 per cent in the country in November. Despite this, exports of coloured gems increased by 7.50 per cent last month. The coloured gems worth Rs 186.03 crore were exported in November this year, whereas, coloured gems worth Rs 173.05 crore were exported in November last year i.e. 2022. The country’s majority of colourful gems are processed in Jaipur. At the national level, gems and jewellery were exported worth Rs 19018.18 crore in November.

In November 2022, exports worth Rs 19917.73 crore were recorded from the country. A sharp decrease of 37 per cent is seen in silver jewellery exports compared to last year. Compared to Rs 2058.25 crore as of November 2022, the export of silver jewellery in November 2023 was Rs 1296.63 crore. There was also a decline of 9.65 per cent in the export of diamonds last month this year.
