Gandhi Vatika to be inaugurated on Sept 23
Jaipur: A new Gandhi Vatika, costing Rs 85 crore, has been built near Central Park in the capital city to introduce the younger generation to the life and struggles of Mahatma Gandhi.
This unique initiative, the first of its kind in India, was spearheaded by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and is set to be inaugurated on the evening of September 23 which is also expected to be attended by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. In a press conference, Kumar Prashant, President of Gandhi Peace Foundation Delhi, shared details about this remarkable project.
Unlike traditional Gandhi museums, this Gandhi Vatika focuses on bringing Gandhi’s philosophy to life in a garden setting. He said the name “Gandhi Vatika” was preferred instead of “Gandhi Darshan Museum” because a museum contains articles from history while “Vatika” will offer visitors a connection with Gandhi’s timeless ideas, relevant even today
